musings, poetry

galloping horses

If wishes were horses
And horses were wishes

I would trade every wish
and every horse
and give you this
Give you me

Because you are worthy
And I am wasted

And I would take old bones and old pains
because I’ve already an old soul
and you could try again
Try a different path
Do again; be (young) again

I would trade it
Would trade it all and give it to you
For I have no use for it
I have nothing but pain with it
I have nothing
Nothing left to lose
But everything left to trade

Take it.
Take it and live, most unrepentantly,
again.

"Raw," she said. "I want something primal. I want something bare and naked. I want you to give me this life raw, unbidden, unhidden, free, fair, and true. Can you do that? Can you do that for me?"

One may only try.
