You know who your people are. You know the way they walk; you know the way they talk. It’s not about money, class, status, sexuality, or race.
It’s simply having a tribe.
I made a recent posting where I spoke about knowing your values; it’s the most important thing you can do to build your identity and live a life where you respect yourself.
The other part of that is finding like-minded companions for your life’s journey. The reality is that we do not go through this life alone; we have lovers, partners, friends, enemies, acquaintances, the undefinables, and the undeniables. We are not alone.
So, who you choose to keep close company with is the second most important thing you can do. Find people who live the same fundamental values that you have; they’ll make you laugh and cry and will demand you be the person that you both want and need to be.
They will keep you honest. They will keep you true.
Know your tribe. And once you find them, do not ever, ever let them go.
