Today we seek drug addictions, viper’s tongues, selfishness, and callous indifference to care – no, we don’t actually say that, but we look for “spontaneity, wit, self-will and independence, and le superb bon vivant“; I suppose too many times we get what we wish for, not what we need.
Do tell, which of Dante’s sins must we aspire so as to be worthy of a little attention and caring? Lust? Greed? Violence? Gluttony? Or was it Blasphemy?
